Consul Camerota, huge enthusiasm of students and institutions
As part of the 7th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, the first Italian cooking course was inaugurated, promoted by the Italian consulate in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan.
This was reported in a statement by the Italian consulate itself.
The course includes a cycle of Master Classes, with a theoretical and an operational part, aimed at a total of 30 young local students in the tourism-hotel sector of the local Salahaddin University, with the aim of promoting some fundamental principles of our culinary art, from pastry to bread-making, fresh pasta and condiments.
The course was organized in collaboration with the well-known Italian restaurant in Erbil, Don Gennaro, and is taught by chef Angelo Giannino.
The Italian Consul Michele Camerota, in underlining that “recent events in the Middle East have necessarily forced us to rethink some external projection activities initially designed for the Week of Cuisine”, expressed “satisfaction with the enthusiasm with which the offer was welcomed by local institutions and young participants”.
“This is the third year in a row that the consulate has promoted activities in the field of Italian cuisine,” added Camerota, “and this year the added value we wanted to give is precisely in the direction of training future operators in the sector in the correct use and combination of our knowledge and flavors.
“Moreover, particularly in recent years, in the Kurdish region there has been a significant growth in Italian restaurants and an increasing diffusion of Italian agri-food products, with growth margins to be encouraged, also in the name of the enormous capital of sympathy and reference that Italy represents for the region”.
