The Consulate General of Italy in Erbil, on the occasion of the 2026 European Day of Languages, actively took part in celebrating European linguistic and cultural diversity, thanks to the invitation received from the cultural institutions of Germany and France, the Goethe-Institute Iraq and the Institut Fran\u00e7ais Iraq. The European Day of Languages, as is well known, celebrates Europe’s linguistic and cultural diversity every year and encourages exchange between people, languages, and cultures.<\/p>\n
The event in Kurdistan, attended by around 500 people, was an opportunity to highlight the European spirit and ideals in the cultural field, shared with members of the local diplomatic community, the highest government institutions, cultural and educational organizations, NGOs, and all partners and friends of European countries, through the many activities organized by each participating country (France, Germany, Italy, and Hungary).<\/p>\n
The European Day of Languages 2026, in which the Catholic University of Erbil actively participated at the Italian stand – currently involved in organizing Italian language courses for young students in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society – focused on short language lessons with interactive sessions held simultaneously in separate classrooms managed independently by the participating countries, and on other cultural contributions such as music, readings, stories, language quizzes, creative activities for families and children, and for teachers and language enthusiasts, giving visitors the chance to discover at the info stands the opportunities to learn different European languages locally.<\/p>\n
