As part of the efforts to strengthen relations between Italy and Iraq, the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Niccolò Fontana, accompanied by Consul General Tommaso Sansone, conducted an institutional mission to Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan.
Tribute to Jalal Talabani
The visit began with a moment of silence at the Mausoleum of Jalal Talabani, the first President of the Republic of Iraq and a historic figure for the Kurdish people. By laying a wreath, the Italian delegation paid tribute to one of the protagonists of Iraq’s contemporary history, who significantly contributed to interinstitutional dialogue and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Italy, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region.
The gesture was intended to reaffirm the friendship and collaboration that bind our countries, founded on mutual respect, political and economic cooperation, and a shared commitment to the stability and development of the region.
Institutional Meetings and Economic Outlook
The mission provided an important opportunity for discussion with institutional stakeholders and representatives of the local economic fabric. The authorities and economic operators clearly demonstrated their willingness to consolidate and expand cooperation with Italy, recognized as a reliable and technologically advanced partner.
