The Italian Citizen has to present at the Consulate for the taking of fingerprints during office hours and by appointment by writing to erbil.consolato@esteri.it
If you find yourself in an emergency situation abroad (for example, you need to leave and have lost your passport or had it stolen) and there is no time to apply for a new travel document, the Consulate can issue an Emergency Travel Document (ETD), which is valid only for your return to Italy (or to the country in which you legally reside). Only in exceptional cases can it be used for a different destination.
To have an ETD issued, you must bring the following documents to the locally authorised Consulate, during working day:
1) Report of the loss or theft of your passport or other travel document to the Consulate as per articles no. 46, 47 and 76 of Presidential Decree 445/2000;
2) 2 identical, front-face, colour 35 x 40 mm photographs;
3) Ticket;
4) Receipt for payment of the fee for the document (currently €1.55) and eventual mailing costs if the person concerned is not able to pick it up in person.
Please remember
take with you the Police report (loss or theft of your passport) in order to later cross the border.
When you travel keep photocopies of your most important documents (passport, identity card, credit card) in a place separate from where the originals are kept in order to facilitate assistance in case of loss or theft.
Citizens of European Union Member Countries can be issued an ETD pending formal authorisation by the diplomatic mission or Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s home country and upon submission of the following documentation:
1) Report of the loss or theft of your passport or other travel document to the Consulate as per articles no. 46, 47 and 76 of Presidential Decree 445/2000;
2) Local police report of the loss or theft of the document;
3) 2 identical, front-face, 35 x 40 mm colour photographs;
4) Ticket;
5) Receipt for payment of the fee for the document (currently €1.55) and eventual mailing costs if the person concerned is not able to pick it up in person.
